This policy explains what personal information Aziz Shamanism collects when you use azizshamanism.com, our online school and our courses, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. It is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
The data controller is Aziz Shamanism (Peter Aziz), 20 Furlong Close, Buckfast, Devon TQ11 0ER, United Kingdom. For anything to do with your personal data, email [email protected].
2. What we collect
Information you give us. Your name, email address and, where you provide them, your postal address and phone number, when you create an account, enrol on a course, join the membership, book a healing session, buy a product, fill in a form, post a question in a course Q&A, or email us. If you send us details about your health or wellbeing as part of a healing request, we treat that as special category data and use it only to provide the session you asked for.
Payment information. Payments are taken by PayPal or by the card processor built into our checkout. They handle your card or account details under their own privacy policies. We receive confirmation of the payment, the amount and the item bought. We never see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the site we and our service providers record technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you reached the site and how long you stay. Some of this is collected through cookies and similar tools, described in section 6.
Course and membership activity. Which courses you have access to, your progress, your logins, the questions you post in course Q&A areas and your attendance at live workshops. Live workshops may be recorded so that members who could not attend can watch the replay.
3. Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To deliver what you bought (course access, membership, healing sessions, products, receipts, support). Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
- To run your account and the online school, including logins, access rights, reminders about live workshops and replays you are entitled to. Lawful basis: contract.
- To send you news, offers and new course announcements by email. Lawful basis: consent where you signed up for our emails, or our legitimate interest in telling existing customers about similar courses and services. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time.
- To understand how the site is used and to improve it. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, and consent where cookies require it.
- To advertise on social platforms and measure whether those adverts work. Lawful basis: consent where cookies require it, otherwise legitimate interests.
- To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep legally required records such as sales and tax records. Lawful basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the business, and only as far as they need it:
- our website host and content delivery and security network (Cloudflare);
- our customer, email and online school platform, which stores your contact record, course access and the emails we send you;
- payment providers (PayPal and our checkout’s card processor);
- analytics and advertising providers (Google, Meta), see section 6;
- video hosting for course and page videos (YouTube, Vimeo);
- people who work with us on support, administration and the migration of the school, under confidentiality obligations.
We will also disclose personal data if the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Aziz Shamanism, our students or others. If the business is sold or transferred, customer records may pass to the new owner under the same protections.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers (for example Google, Meta, PayPal and our online school platform) store or process data in the United States and other countries outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the provider’s own approved safeguards, so that your data keeps UK-level protection.
6. Cookies and tracking
Cookies are small files placed on your device by your browser. We use:
- Essential cookies. Session, login, shopping cart and security cookies that make the site work. These do not need your consent.
- Analytics. Google Analytics (loaded through Google Site Kit) tells us which pages are visited and how people move through the site. IP addresses are truncated by Google and the reports we see are aggregated.
- Advertising. The Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel, loaded through PixelYourSite, lets us measure our adverts and show them to people who have visited the site. Meta’s use of this data is governed by its own privacy policy.
- Affiliate referrals. If you arrive through an affiliate link, a cookie records the referral so the affiliate can be credited for a purchase.
- Embedded content. Pages with YouTube or Vimeo videos may set those providers’ cookies when the video loads.
You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on, and manage ad personalisation in your Meta ad settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site, such as logging in or checking out, from working.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and course access records for as long as you have an account or active course access, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can restore access if you come back. Sales and payment records are kept for six years after the tax year they relate to, as UK law requires. Marketing records are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only what we need to honour the opt-out. Emails and enquiries are kept for up to two years unless they relate to an ongoing relationship.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy (free of charge in almost all cases);
- correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data where we no longer need it;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including stopping all direct marketing;
- give you your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where consent is the basis we rely on.
Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. If you are not happy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and sits behind Cloudflare. Access to customer records is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private and tell us straight away if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
10. Children
Our courses, healing sessions and products are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
11. Other websites
The site links to other websites, including our online school portal, social media and affiliate partners. Their privacy policies apply when you are on their pages.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. Significant changes to how we use your data will be announced by email to account holders.
